This day trip has got to be the ideal day trip to take when we stay at Emerald Isle. This Island is part of the National Seashore, a national park. If you want to you can take your four wheel car or truck over to the island on a private ferry then camp and fish as long as you want to. You have to bring everything with you including fresh water since the island has no fresh water and the only power is a cable to the lighthouse and the lightkeepers house. Volunteers man the little giftshop in the downstairs of the lightkeepers house and sleep upstairs. The light itself is automatic and only needs perodic maintence.
