The oldest rider, LaVerna Soiset from Matthews NC ,an 86 old lady, was knocked down by dogs and suffered a broken collar bone and fractured hip. While they were examining her before putting her in the ambulance I talked to the folks who lived right there about the dogs. I told them that they should talk to the fellow who let his dogs run loose and tell him that he got a real black eye over this event. To tell him that his dogs knocked down and hurt the oldest person on the Cycle NC bike tour. Purchased a long sleeved tshirt with Cycle NC logo on it and a Cycle NC pin. Met a fellow who built his own recumbant bike. The Betty Ross park in Lincolnton where we camped was a nice park. I camped near the "Carolina Tarwheels" banner and had a nice visit with some of the folks from that club. This ride was a nice ride over rolling hills and not a long ride at all. In the evening we had a presentation from the Cycle America group. They are a commerical ride that covers the United States. I checked out their web site and I found another big ride web site called The Big Ride. This ride is for the American Lung Association and only cost $150.00 plus your airfare to the start and from the finish, plus supper money, plus a $7,000.00 pledge. Heck, if I can raise money for the MS150 I bet in a few years I can do the big ride. I think I'll wait till my youngest goes off to college.
